Winter Weight

By WeightLossUser | June 28, 2009

During the coldest season of the year often causes us to gain extra weight. Every winter we gain a few pounds. Most people really gain those pounds that are difficult to lose afterwards. It’s recognized that through out the winter we have more potential to increase weight, and then in the spring and summer we will go through time trying to get rid of those pounds we weight more than we should.

What causes this phenomenon?

There is no logical explanation to show in the right manner the theory of gaining weight in the winter, but there are many potential causes that can impose this.

Genetic predisposition – it is possible that our segment of DNA to be programmed to consume more materials to nourish the body and more alcohol throughout periods with low temperatures. A reasonable explanation would be that our ancestors needed a huge quantity of fats in their organism just to live during these periods and that amount acted as “fuel” for pressing the cold. Scientists say that we probably inherited the genes, and along with them the need to eat aliments that are high on fats throughout winters.

The level of some hormones – Variations in appetite and aliment consumption are caused by the interaction of unlike chemicals and hormones within the human brain. Some neuron-transmitters, substances that have the purpose to transmit messages from a nervous cell to the other, can affect the way we eat. Low level of these neuron-transmitters (a phenomenon that is highly come together with over-weighed people) can create a permanent feeling of craving something and can have a huge influence over our psychic phases (it will gain depression, cause sleep disorders). Often, some people during winter feel depressed, as a response of less day hours because of the shorter days. Our body reacts to depression, developing a larger quantity of neuron-transmitters – another way to fight depression is by consuming aliments rich in carbohydrates.

Unfortunately, aliments with carbohydrates (pies, cookies and chips, chocolate) also have fats in them, so an over-use on a long time period will certainly lead to weight problems. The solution is to eat he aliments that have in them carbohydrates and fibers to fight depression purposefully and intentionally, without having to deal with extra pounds.

The lack of exercise – it is obvious that physical activity is not fun in the winter, compared to the free activity summer offers us. In the winter however you must not give up sports because rains or cold or snow. This seems to be the main reason that causes weight problems during the coldest season – we have numerous calories inside our body, but we never transform them to energy because we engage in no physical effort, so of course, these will add up to our weight.
