In many cases, unwanted weight gain has psychological causes. People may identify eating with comfort and thus eat as a way of feeling comfortable. Most do it unconsciously. It’s more like a deeply-rooted problem that starts from one’s youth. For this reason, some fat loss programs suggest keeping a diary about what one eats and what one feels while eating.
Emotional eaters usually eat when they feel depressed or lonely. It’s a pattern that develops over the years. We normally don’t recognize this pattern until it is too late. If food is what makes one happy, that can result in obesity.
Confiding in a therapist or counselor helps with emotional issues. These professionals can work with you to weed out the root cause of your problem. You may have to do this because not dealing with the root cause will simply leave it as a persistent problem in the future.
Discarding unwanted body fat is not easy. It takes determination and hard work. People usually try different diets and programs before settling for what works for them. Sometimes they focus more on the area of diet. Others may focus on the area of exercise. Still others prefer to combine both. Ideally, it should be both. For a weight loss program to work, it should consider a balanced implementation of an effective diet plan as well as an adequate work-out routine.
